Covino & Rich’s 3rd Annual Road Trip

September 16-21, 2018

Covino & Rich  hit the road yet again for the 3rd Annual Covino & Rich Road Trip.  After the success of our cross country and west coast road trip, we packed up the car and head out on a trip through the midwest!

The Covino & Rich Road Trip allows us to see the country from a different perspective, and interact with our listeners and friends in parts of the country we don’t normally get to visit.  We set up a special broadcast in each city from a favorite local venue, allowing the listeners to experience the show first hand, meet Covino & Rich and hang with their fellow Covino & Rich listeners over some food and drink.

This year, through SiriusXM’s car relationships, we partnered with Volkswagen as the vehicle of choice for the Road Trip. They provided us with a VW Atlast for the trip, our most comfortable and spacious vehicle to date. Even gave us a few stories for on air content.

Each road trip is a unique adventure, bringing something new and exciting each time.  The relationships and stories generated from these trips truly make it a worthwhile experience

Below is the schedule of this year’s tour.

Dallas, TX – Sunday, September 16th

Venue: Biergarten on Lamar (665 S. Lamar St. #110, Dallas)

Dallas was our first stop on the tour. Had a great group turnout for Dallas, coming from all over the area. We had previously been in Dallas years earlier for our first Road Trip, but met plenty of new people, along with some familiar faces.

TRAVEL: DAL-OKC – 206 miles/3 hours

Oklahoma City, OK – Monday, September 17th

Venue: Bricktown Brewery (1 N Oklahoma Ave, OKC)

This was the show’s first visit to Oklahoma City, or the state in general. We appeared at Bricktown Brewery, a local favorite of OKC. The crowd was strong and the quality of people were great. We even had some people follow us from Dallas. Everyone was appreciative of us stopping in OKC, as they feel like events rarely take place near them

TRAVEL: OKC-Miami, OK-St. Louis 500 miles/7 hours 13 minutes

St. Louis, MO – Tuesday, September 18th

st louis

Venue: Anheuser Busch Biergarten (1127 Pestalozzi St, STL)

For our St. Louis stop, we partnered with Anheuser Busch to host the event in their new Biergarten event space at the Anheuser Busch brewery. We’ve have a long-running relationship with AB, so they were happy to host us. They also provided each attendee with a free sample of their new Copper Lager. The venue was private, which made the setting more intimate for our listeners.

Travel: STL-Bloomington, IL- Chicago, IL 313 miles/4hr 45min

Chicago, IL – Wednesday, September 19th

Venue: Bottled Blonde Chicago (504 N Wells St, Chicago)

Chicago was our first major city of the trip, and it felt that way. After a quick stop for some deep dish pizza, we headed over to the venue. This was the best turnout yet, with a huge crew of people hanging for the show, and a lot of people stopping by for a drink after work. We even encountered new listeners who came up to us after the show, saying they hadn’t heard of the show, but are now listeners because they liked what they heard.

Travel: Chicago – Wisconsin Dells, WI – Minneapolis, MN – 409 miles/6hrs 15 min

Minneapolis, MN – Thursday, September 20th

Venue: Cowboy Jack’s (126 N 5th St, Minneapolis)

Minneapolis was one of our favorite stops. It was our first visit to the city and one we’ve been hoping to make for a while, and that showed with those who joined us. People drove for hours just to meet us at the venue. It was a great group of people that we were happy to hang with. Cowboy Jack’s was a great venue. They were incredibly accommodating, and still had SiriusXM painted on the wall near our broadcast. We arrived a few minutes late due to a mishap, which turned out to be a great topic for the show. And everyone stuck around to hear it.

Travel: MSP-Alexandria, MN-Canadian Border – 387 miles/5hrs 36 min

Winnipeg, MB Canada – Friday, September 21st

Venue: King’s Head Pub (120 King St, Winnipeg, MB Canada)

Winnipeg was slated to be our biggest turnout, with the highest numbers of registration through our website. Unfortunately, due to a mishap at the Canadian border, we were denied entry and had to cancel the event. People had traveled for hours, some even flying in. They still stayed and had a great time, and realize that we did everything we could, considering the circumstances, to make it up to them. After our first denial, we were able to reach out to SiriusXM Canada for a letter stating we were able to host the event and weren’t receiving additional compensation, but the border agents had made up their mind. We plan on hosting another event to make up for this.

In 2015, we hit the road on our first road trip as the show moved from New York to Los Angeles.  Stops along that tour included Pittsburg, PA, Loretto, KY at the Maker’s Mark Distillery, Nashville, TN, Dallas, TX, Albuquerque, NM, Phoenix, AZ, and along the beach in San Diego, CA.

In 2016, after the success of the first, we hit the road yet again for our 2nd road trip, this time down the east coast.  We did our first ever broadcast north of the border, starting in Vancouver, BC Canada, drawing in one of our biggest crowds.  We then hit Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA, and ended again in San Diego’s Gaslamp District.

We’ve partnered with brands like Anheuser-Busch and Stillhouse Moonshine at some of the venues, as well as sponsorships from the Candlewood Suites hotels across the country.
