Covino & Rich DBC 7 Recap
June 22 – 25, 2016
Originally a listener created event, the DBC has exponentially grown throughout the years to become an annual destination for fans of the Covino & Rich Show. This year was no exception, as the biggest turnout yet, with record numbers at all events! Fans of the show traveled to NYC at their own expense to spend 5 days with Covino, Rich, Spot and fellow listeners of C&R. Listeners traveled from as far as southern California and BC Canada for the week of events. We saw many familiar faces this year, but welcomed just as many new faces to the group.
Schedule of Events
Wednesday, June 22nd
The week kicked off with a live pre-Mets game broadcast from the Pine Restaurant and Bar in Queens near Citi Field. Listeners got to stop by on their way to the game and enjoy an on-site broadcast of the show, while interacting with C&R. This allowed listeners to immediately attend the game afterwards.
Following the game, we reserved a group of tickets at Citi Field as the Mets took on the Kansas City Royals, giving out-of-towners a true NY baseball experience as the Mets won the game
Later that evening after the Mets Game, the group gathered in New York City to continue the annual tradition of karaoke, meeting at The Spot Karaoke in Koreatown NYC
Thursday, June 23rd
As more people began to arrive in NYC, we again welcomed listeners in the C&R studios at SiriusXM. Later that night, the group boarded Hornblower Cruises Alive After Five cruise out of South Street Seaport for a Happy Hour and sunset cruise around the East and Hudson Rivers to experience the iconic landmarks of NYC by boat. We worked with Hornblower Cruises to provide a deep-discounted rate
Following the cruise, the group headed to the Trading Post in the South Street Seaport area to continue the evening and unwind with their new friends.
Friday, June 24th
Friday is always the biggest day of the DBC, with back-to-back events all day long. The day started with over 100 listeners visiting the SiriusXM Fish Bowl studio for a live broadcast of the Covino & Rich Show. You never know who’s wandering around the halls of SiriusXM, and this year was a prime example as our guests received a huge surprise visit from legendary rocker Steven Tyler. In addition, frequent SXM staff and friends stopped by the studio as well as fan-favorite, Magic Marc, performing for the attendees. We also had a live performance of parody songs with C&R and our listeners. Friend of the show Guy Fieri provided food courtesy of his restaurant Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar in NYC
Following the Fish Bowl broadcast, we partnered with our friends at Gotham Comedy Club, a premiere comedy venue in NYC, to host “Covino & Rich’s Comedy Adventure Show!” Gotham hosts a special event just for our group, and we pack the venue. Rich performed his annual standup comedy act for the listeners, with other friends of the show and up and coming comics. We also did a cross-promo with other SiriusXM hosts, including SiriusXM Rush’s Luis J Gomez and Morning Men’s Mike Babchik.
Finally, we wrapped the night at the “DBC 7 After Party” at The Ainsworth 26 in New York City, an upscale sports bar. We worked with the venue for a private room for our group. We also worked with our friends at Anheuser-Busch to provide free beer for our group. AB was more than generous, and provided us with plenty of beer to keep the night going. Our listeners had a great time unwinding with each other and swapping stories from their experiences throughout the week.
Saturday, June 25th
The 7th Annual DBC wrapped up with our 3nd annual softball game at a softball field on the Great Lawn of Central Park. After speaking with many of our listeners, playing a game of softball in Central Park NYC is a bucket list item, and we’re happy to provide them with this experience. We worked with the NYC Parks Department to reserve a field for our event, and allow the group to play 2 games. The weather was perfect, and provided a beautiful backdrop to close out DBC 7!
