The Covino & Rich Show

Hey C&R listeners, this is Alex the “intern” giving you an update of today’s show.

The show started off with C&R talking about a new internet video that superimposes people’s faces and makes them look like a hero to the entire world. Rich thinks that if you show an old person this video, they wouldn’t be able to know it was a fake because they are so technologically primitive. Covino thinks that is ridiculous and any old person who has the slightest clue about technology would immediately know it wasn’t real. An older caller named Yvonne thinks that Rich is crazy because she uses Adobe Photoshop all the time, but Rich says its unrealistic that most 66 year olds are like that. Rich finally agrees that old people are not nearly as dumb as young people think they are.

Rich says there is a big difference between milk and cream but Covino disagrees. Rich gets fired up by this because he says Covino always disagrees with him just to be a douche. He finally calms down and Spot brings down two cups of coffee (one with milk and the other with cream). Rich tells the difference between the two very easily and Covino concedes that there must be a substantial difference or that Rich has superhuman taste buds.

C&R talk about when men try too hard to be manly and end up just hurting themselves. Covino says there’s no point in trying to prove your dick is bigger than everyone else’s. Rich says that he doesn’t take many shots when he goes out because it makes him feel like shit and doesn’t care if people think its unmanly of him. There is some disagreement over some manly actions like eating bloody burgers because in that case its actually worth doing. The conversation reminds me a lot of Dave Chappelle’s “When keeping it real goes wrong”.

A caller says that Covino is giving people advice not to be manly because he himself drinks daqueris in front of his dudebros at bars. Rich comes to Covino’s defense, however, by pointing out that Covino gets more pussy than anyone he’s ever met so it doesn’t really matter what he drinks at bars. Covino asks whether you are trying to get into the pants of your friends or the pants of girls.

Jenna Morasca from survivor comes into the studio. Rich starts telling a story about how he saw a sign for a 50 dollar massage for 50 minutes and thought this was an incredible deal. When he goes to the parlor with Sara, however, he sees that  creepy man is supposed to give her a massage. Since he didn’t want the guy touching Sara, he switched masseuses and got a really weird and creepy massage from this dude. Jenna says that she doesn’t like getting massages from guys because she always thinks they are going to “stick a digit in”. (Note to Reader: Jenna Morasca is incredibly attractive, funny, and cool in real life).

Jenna says strippers never actually like their customers but pretend to because its a profession and they are trying to get more money. Rich disagrees and says that 1 out of every 10 strippers actually likes their clients. Jenna says that even when they have sex with their clients its only to get more money. A caller claims that a stripper once got off on his leg, but everyone in the studio is highly skeptical.

Jenna says she likes skinny black men with dreadlocks. She admits to having a huge crush on Lil Wayne.

C&R and Jenna talk about the chef from NYC who made cheese out of his wife’s breast milk. Jenna says she would only eat it if the wife were hot. She said that she had to eat much grosser stuff when she was on survivor so its not that bad. I pull up a picture of the chef’s wife, and Jenna retracts her statement because the wife is definitely not attractive.

After Jenna leaves the studio, C&R talk about how Spot has a secret life that they don’t know about. They discover this when they look through his Facebook pictures and see that he’s doing stuff and hanging out with people they’ve never seen or heard of. There are strange pictures of Spot in his profile of him biting random people’s asses and Covino doesn’t understand why Spot doesn’t take it off out of respect for his girlfriend. Covino says that when he is with someone he takes down pictures of his exes.

As you may or may not remember, Jesse Ventura (former WWF wrestler, former Minnesota Governor, and current conspiracy theorist) appeared on the Opie & Anthony Show on Sirius XM a few months back. He got into a heated debate with comedian Jim Norton, resulting in Ventura walking off the show and almost ending in a fight. Here’s the youtube clip from O&A:

While he stopped by the Covino & Rich Show today, we had the opportunity to ask him about this incident. Here’s what he had to say:

Not sure if you bothered catching Jimmy Kimmel Live after the Oscars (probably the only funny thing associated with the Oscars), but he did a hilarious bit on his show called “The Handsome Men’s Club” Yes, Covino & Rich did google search to see if this was actually a real club, but to their disappointment, it’s not.

However, this bit left us with 2 questions…

1) Where the hell has Josh Hartnett been?

2) Seriously, how did he pull this off?!?

Despite the answer to either question, I think we can all agree that Jimmy is severely underrated. Check it out…

By the way, with the exception of Whoopi Goldberg’s Poise Ad, I found this commercial for ABC’s “Modern Family” to be hilarious. Since you probably missed it, check it out…

So unless you were out last night being extreme and kicking dudes in the nuts, your girl probably roped you in to watching the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. You have to admit, there were a few cool moments, but all in all, left us with some observations –

Barbara Walters is amazing. It’s her 29th Oscar special (and her last because young hollywood wont answer her questions). But she definitely is in a league of her own (and we don’t mean the movie).

If it weren’t for people like Ben Stiller at the Oscars, Hollywood types are boring –

Sarah Jessica Parker is hideous (poor Ferris Bueller) –

The song from the movie “Up” is great (and makes us shed one) –

People hang from Meryl Streep’s nuts –

Aside from that, Sandra Bullock won for her made for TV but that was actually on the big screen movie “The Blind Side” –

And Kathryn Bigelow (not to be confused with Bam Bam Bigelow) kicked her ex-husband’s ass and won best director for “The Hurt Locker” –

Hey C&R listeners, this is Alex the “Intern” giving you an update on today’s show.

To the start the show off, Rich says he can’t figure out what kind of toothpaste he wants to use. Covino says instantly that he doesn’t give a shit but then concedes that he likes Arm and Hammer toothpaste. Rich explains that its a “casual toothpaste Friday”. Covino points out the fact that Rich can only complain about his toothpaste and says it indicates how well things must be going for Rich at the moment.

C&R talk about what a stand up guy Bubba The Love Sponge is and that they appreciate him defending them against The Jason Ellis Show.

Spot has been going through hell because his girlfriend is reading a “how to” book on relationships and its making her question their entire relationship. Covino points out that these books make all men look like the worst to the women who read them. C&R say Spot’s girlfriend must be bored and that’s why she has become entranced with a book like this. C&R say that Spot should hide the book from her so that she can’t read it anymore.

Rich makes the interesting observation that MYSpace has gone from a really popular and cool website into one that no one really gives a shit about anymore. Everyone in the studio ponders why this happened and no one can think of something that lost popularity as fast as MYSpace did.

Rich didn’t really like Alice in Wonderland as a kid so he’s not that excited for the movie now. Covino isn’t surprised by this information and tells Rich that he must not have understood it because its an awesome book. Rich says he doesn’t like Tim Burton films in general and would probably like Alice in Wonderland if he smoked a joint with some friends before seeing it.

John Basedow, the fitness guru, comes into the studio. C&R love this man and are overjoyed that he has arrived at the studio. Rich says that Covino won’t get into any better shape, realistically, because he is so busy and has a kid now. John explains to Rich that he’s putting limitations on Covino which people in his program “Fitness Made Simple” don’t do.

Basedow says that if you really want a healthy diet, eat natural, not things that are made by man. Realistically, even if you do this just once a week, it will help dramatically. C&R can’t believe the kind of discipline Basedow has and proceed to taunt him by saying there’s a great cupcake place down the street. But Basedow, having superhuman discipline, says it doesn’t even concern him anymore because his body is used to eating healthy. At this point, his body wont let him eat unhealthy or he feels sick.

Callers ask Basedow about nutrition, and kettle bells. Basedow says its all about nutrition because weightlifting is how you build muscles but nutrition is how they show. At the gym, you should always imitate the people who already look in great shape, not the ones who seem like they are trying really hard, because its the people already in good shape that are clearly doing something right.

After John Basedow leaves, Tara Bernie, an executive from Access Hollywood comes in. They talk academy awards. Covino, who proves to be a very harsh critic, said he didn’t like The Hurt Locker, Precious, or The Blind Side. Tara says that the Academy Awards are like the Super Bowl of the entertainment industry. Covino feels that  film should win best picture should also please people who watch it (a film like Precious is too much of a downer). Tara says C&R would never make it at the Oscars and Covino says that they would just ask him to clean the carpet.

I tell the guys during a break that I’m surprised that they don’t do television considering they are both attractive, personable guys. They consider why they haven’t and they ultimately think that they are too much of a liability considering they are very honestly opinionated and that seems to be more fitting for radio than television.

Rich’s friend (who is a girl) likes a guy at her gym and they’ve been flirting for years but he’s never made a move on her. She’s is going to leave the gym permanently soon and asks C&R what she should do. Covino says the guy sounds like a pussy so it doesn’t matter anyway. He stresses that every guy just has to buck up and go for it with girls because confidence always works in some way.

Hey dudebros! This is Jayson and this is your official update of the Covino and Rich show.

The show started off good for it to be a chillen Thursday. The guys began with Rich thanking Covino for letting him have a piece of gum, which in turned sparked a conversation of good gum. Gums like Gator gum and bubble yum, etc. Then the guys began talking about how they were walking down the hallway and saw the PR person from the radio station and they were saying how she was saying how they would be in the studio and they would be taking pictures of the guys. So then Covino and tells Rich that he needs to relax because he’s always moving around and always on his feet during the show.  Then Covino started talking about the show on Starz, Spartacus. Covino was saying how it is a good show, but at the same time they show too much cock in the show.  Next, the guys get on the subject of secret talents.  The guys then try to reveal and guess Spots talent. Covino and Rich can’t figure it out so callers call and try to guess it. Spots hidden talent in Crocheting.

Next, subject on hand was about the little boy who was directing traffic at JFK airport in New York. The guys were defending the air traffic controller because they were saying it’s not like the father wasn’t their supervising his son, he was there feeding him the lines, telling him what to say. Callers call in and give their opinions on it.

Back from the break, the guys still are reiterating on the child directing planes, and they were saying how Lenny Kravitz  didn’t live up to their expectations, They were playing fly away by Lenny Kravitz. Then they guys were talking about how they had a best booty contest in the US. Rich was saying the girls asses were nice. Then the guys were still talking about the kid directing the planes, and callers call in agreeing that the air traffic controller shouldn’t have been fired.

Next, the guys got on the subject of websites, because they were talking about myspace. They started coming up with names for websites like footupmyass.com to see if there was a website for it. Then, they started talking about myspace how it is losing users every month.  They say their loosing users every month. Covino and Rich was saying how can myspace save itself, and they were saying how myspace was more personal rather than facebook. One caller said that they would go back to myspace only if facebook started charging.  Callers call in and give their opinions.

After the next break the guys were talking about March Mustache Maddness! They started a contest saying whoever let their mustache grow for the month of March and sends in pictures they are eligible to win a prize to the best mustache picture. Then they started talking about musical artist who had great mustaches. People like Debarge, and Lionel Richie.  Next, they were talking about comedy. They were saying how Chris Rock was saying how men can’t come back sexually. Then they asked a question can women come back financially? Can men come back sexually? Callers call in and give their opinion on this.

Next the guys started to talk go into the news alert segment. They started talking about the website where college guys get girls drunk and have sex with them DareDorms.com and their might be an Indian Jones 5, then they started talking about Dancing with the Stars and the cast of them .Then they started talking asking a question which dancing with the stars girl would everybody watch to see.  They were saying Erin Andrews is the hot chick in the show.

Hey C&R fans, this is Alex the “intern” giving you an recap of today’s show.

Covino is eating a sandwich that Layla made for him. Rich says that the bread is too dry and can actually feel it sticking to the roof of his mouth. The sandwich is 4 days old and Covino wonders how long it will last. Rich says 4 days is way too long considering the contents of the sandwich are chicken salad and avocado. A caller says that most meats will last a while unless you take it out of the fridge and back in a lot of times.

In a moment of pure, unadulterated joy for me, Hulk Hogan (my childhood idol) walks into the studio with his manager Jimmy Hart. The first thing he does is start talking in a Randy Savage voice. He says he had a rough couple of years both financially and personally but realized that wrestling is in  his veins and what he loves so he works with TNA Wrestling and it’s one of the best times in his life. C&R talk about how popular Hulk is with wrestling fans and cite an example in which he fought The Rock and the whole crowd was rooting for him. Hulk is bringing his yellow and red look back like his old school self.

C&R ask Hulk if he liked the movie “The Wrestler” and Hulk says he did but it only really applies to a couple people he knows and not the industry as a whole. Rich says he likes the fact that woman wrestling has turned from The Fabulous Moolah to hot divas. Hulk says that the women on TNA are real fighters as well as really hot. Hulk is only in the studio for 15 minutes but I couldn’t believe what a nice and down to earth guy he was.

Rich laments the fact that American Idol has started to suck so bad. No one on it has much talent and they think that the fact that they can play guitar will make up for their mediocre voices. Covino guarantees that none of this year’s finalists will make it after the show.

Covino points out that people should really start to watch SNL again because this year’s cast is incredible and the show has become really funny again. Although I think the show has always been funny, I agree with him that this season is one of the best.

Covino has gotten backlash through texts and e-mails because he said something “controversial” last night. People guess at what it was and Rich laughs that even their incorrect guesses just show that so many people disagree with what Covino says. The correct answer is that Covino said he liked the band “Lifehouse” and people not disrespect his opinions because so many people don’t like the band. C&R ask callers if they’ve ever lost respect for someone they previously liked. One caller says that she was completely weirded out and offended by the Band Papa Roach when they would only let her and not her fiance come backstage. Other examples were Lauren Hill and John Edwards.

Covino is very proud of his cd/dvd collection. Rich and Spot say that he displays his collection for everyone to see but Covino denies it. Is it outdated to take pride in your cd/dvd collection? C&R think its pretty  outdated and weird but thinks its okay if you’re old or want to display cool things like foreign trinkets.

For some reason Covino gets antsy whenever Spot and Rich make travel plans for him. A bunch of callers think that Covino is immature for never wanting to plan things but Covino defends himself quoting John Lennon’s line “Life happens to you when you’re busy making other plans”. Rich points out that Covino always ends up having a lot of fun on these trips but its incredibly difficult to convince him to come. A douchebag caller named Aaron gives Covino shit and personally insults him but other callers come to Covino’s defense and call Aaron a little bitch.

Covino tries to call Rich a bonehead or a dickhead but accidentally calls him “Bonedick”. Everyone agrees that this will be Rich’s new nickname.

I tell the guys that I don’t think lesbian porn is hot and got shit for it in high school/college. Rich and Covino actually agree with me and say that having dick in the shot is necessary so that you can pretend its you. A surprisingly large number of callers agree with me but expectedly a bunch call in to say we’re all gay.
